Maryland Deathfest VII Adds Six More Bands To The Line-Up

Next year’s Maryland Deathfest is either getting better or worse, I can’t really tell, but they have announced the additions of Mayhem, Pestilence, General Surgery, Sayyadina, Phobia and Triac according to SMN News.

The following bands have been confirmed for the highly anticipated 2009 edition of the Maryland Deathfest, which will take place from May 22nd to 24th at the Sonar in Baltimore, MD, with many more to be announced in the coming months:

PESTILENCE - Netherlands
MAYHEM - Norway
ATHEIST - Florida
ASPHYX - Netherlands
IMMOLATION - New York
BRUTAL TRUTH - New York
ABSCESS - California
HAIL OF BULLETS - Netherlands
GENERAL SURGERY - Sweden
TODAY IS THE DAY - Tennessee
PHOBIA - California
SAYYADINA - Sweden
FLESH PARADE - Louisiana
JIG-AI - Czech Republic
ANTIGAMA - Poland
CROWPATH - Sweden
GNOSTIC - Georgia
MAN MUST DIE - Scotland
ENTRAILS MASSACRE - Germany
TRIAC - Maryland
I haven’t even heard of half of these bands. Gnostic? Man Must Die? Entrails Massacre? Triac? Sayyadina? Are these really bands worth bringing in from overseas? Will these bands really help bring in the crowds? Who the fuck are they? More importantly… Mayhem? Really? Why? They stopped being good 20 years ago. Next year’s deathfest looks like it’s going to be filled with a lot of really old saggy balls. Just saying…

    What little I’ve heard of Entrails Massacre and Sayyadina sounds good, but Man Must Die aren’t worth the 15 keystrokes (including shift key for capitals and spaces) it takes to type their name.

    I’ve read an interview of Sayyadina in Short, fast & loud zine and checked out some of their sounds. They are a decent swedish grind act and one of the guys used to be in Nasum…

    This looks pretty amazing so far, for Abscess alone. You really should give Sayyadina a shot, they’re fucking amazing. Also, Ordo Ad Chao is a good album so I’m sure Mayhem will be solid. I might have to come all the way down from Ottawa again for this. My hope is that Portal will be added.
