  • Decapitated are on an indefinite hiatus for now:

Guitarist Waclaw “Vogg” Kieltyka of the Polish extreme metallers DECAPITATED — whose brother, DECAPITATED drummer Witold “Vitek” Kieltyka, died on November 2, 2007 in a Russian hospital from injuries sustained in a road collision — has issued the following update:

“I would like to take the time to inform everyone interested in knowing about the status of the band. As you probably know, I have been pretty quiet about the whereabouts of the band and the future and I’d like to inform you that we are on indefinite hiatus for now. I feel that it is too early to continue or try to continue without Vitek and/or Covan [DECAPITATED singer Adrian Kowanek, who was also hurt in the accident] at this particular moment.

“Regarding Covan. He’s recovering now and needs all the time in the world to comeback to a normal life. So I want to wait for him, so we could both decide what the future will hold for DECAPITATED.

“I definitely want to keep on playing and touring as it’s very important for me to keep on playing music. While we have this break with DECAPITATED, I’d like to mention that I’m open to explore options regarding joining or touring as a session player. Given the seriousness of the project, I could work on dedicating as much time as possible to it.

“I also want to express my respect for everyone who has supported the families of Vitek and Covan on any kind of way since the accident.

    “Thank you so much!”

While I always felt Decapitated were overrated, what happened to them was horrible, something not even I being the jerk that I am would make jokes about. It’s good to hear that everyone is doing better and that their passion for music is still strong, even if I think they sucked.

  • Montreal’s The Plasmarifle will be releasing their debut full length offering While You Were Sleeping the World Changed in an Instant through Siege Of Amida Records on September 30th. Blabbermouth reports;

Montreal, Quebec, Canada-based metallers THE PLASMARIFLE have posted a new track, "I Hold You Close To My Heart", on their MySpace page. The song comes off the group’s new album, While You Were Sleeping the World Changed in an Instant, which is scheduled for release on September 30 via Siege of Amida/Ferret Music. The CD was recorded by Bart Frydrychowicz (NECRONOMICON, DECADAWN) at studio 40 West and was mastered by former DESPISED ICON guitarist Yannick St-Amand at Northern Studio. The artwork was created by Colin Marks (WHITECHAPEL, THE RED DEATH).

According to a press release, THE PLASMARIFLE “is the next generation in the grand tradition of Montreal metal bands like VOIVOD, GORGUTS, CRYPTOPSY and KATAKLYSM who merge a high level of technical skill with creative exploration. It’s punishing music that should appeal to fans of being hit by 18-wheelers, eating broken glass, and having their dick slammed in a door.”

I guess it’s a good thing I enjoy having my dick slammed in a door, otherwise I’d probably hate it!

  • While Blabbermouth is often a good source for metal news, it’s also a source for a lot of bullshit that shouldn’t even be discussed privately, let alone publicly. Case and point, this story about Jasmin St. Claire’s autobiography.

George “CorpseGrinder” Fisher, frontman of legendary death metal act CANNIBAL CORPSE, was interviewed for former adult film star Jasmin St. Claire’s forthcoming autobiography, entitled “What the Hell Was I Thinking?!! Confessions of the World’s Most Controversial Sex Symbol – An Authorized Autobiography”, which is tentatively due next year. The book, which also features interviews with MOTÖRHEAD mainman Ian “Lemmy” Kilmister, Ron Jeremy, Kendra Jade Rossi, and a host of others to be announced, is co-authored by Jake Brown.

First off, I’m impressed a porn star can read. That’s a special talent you never see in porn, just once I’d like to slap in a porn flick and watch a porn chick reading, and actually comprehending the words written on the page. It could have big letters and lots of pictures, I don’t care, but being able to read is hot. Unfortunately being a fucking whore isn’t, which is why I stick to jacking off to porn and never bothered starring in it (I love you, penis, thank you for not going gangrene and falling off).

Secondly… how the fuck is this newsworthy? What the fuck is George Fisher going to have to say that will be so interesting that it’ll make this book a must read? “Every time I watch her in porn I imagine myself wrapping my cock in barbwire and fucking her until my dick bursts through her stomach like a scene from Alien.”? Fucking retarded. I hate you, Blabbermouth!

  • Dutch death metallers Sinister have been forced to cancel their scheduled South American tour.

Dutch death metallers SINISTER have been forced to cancel their previously announced South American tour. According to the band, “We asked the promoters many times to send us the info about the flight tickets but we NEVER received any answer, so we cannot take the chance to go there and be there without any shows. We are really sorry for our South America fans that we cannot come, because we where so looking forward to play there for you. We hope you understand!”

SINISTER will release its new album, The Silent Howling, on August 22 via Massacre Records.

SINISTER’s current lineup includes Aad Kloosterwaard (vocals), Alex Paul (guitar), Bas van den Bogaard (bass) and Edwin Van Den Eeden (drums).

It’s too bad their tour was cancelled, but… I’m sure if they were to ask really nicely they could get added to the Carcass & Suffocation North American tour… do it! Do it! I COMMAND YOU TO DO IT! There’s no such thing as too much awesome death metal!

  • Blabbermouth is reporting that Sepultura will be releasing their first full length offering without either of the Cavalera brothers in November.

Brazilian thrashers SEPULTURA have set A-Lex (which stands for “no law” or “without law”) as the title of their new album, which is based on the Anthony Burgess novel “A Clockwork Orange” (later turned into the classic film by Stanley Kubrick). Due in November via SPV Records, the follow-up to 2006’s Dante XXI was recorded at in São Paulo, Brazil at Trama Studios and was mixed at Mega Studios. According to SEPULTURA, the CD — which features 18 songs with a total playing time of 60 minutes — was completed in record time because it is basically a recording of the band’s studio jams captured over a three-month period.

SEPULTURA’s forthcoming CD will be the group’s first to feature drummer Jean Dolabella, who replaced founding member Igor Cavalera in 2006. Igor has since reunited with his brother and former SEPULTURA frontman Max Cavalera in CAVALERA CONSPIRACY.

Let’s face it, when Max left Sepultura, the band died. The band’s offerings since his departure have been mediocre at best. Now with Igor gone, I don’t see how the band will record anything that isn’t a complete steaming pile of shit… especially considering they were recording complete steaming piles of shit when he was still with them. Considering the Cavalera Conspiracy album was solid and the new Soulfly is surprisingly decent (less nu metal, more thrash!), the remaining members of Sepultura are really going to have to step it up unless they want to be known as the guys who ruined one of the biggest bands in metal. When Soulfly starts writing better music than you, you know you fucking suck!

  • Blabbermouth is reporting that Sweden’s Amon Amarth have recorded a video for a track from their upcoming full length offering Twilight Of The Thunder God in September on Metal Blade Records.

“We recently returned from Poland after shooting the first video for the upcoming album Twilight Of The Thunder God. The video will be for the title track.

“We joined efforts with the Polish team Group 13 and director Dariusz Szermanowicz for "Twilight Of The Thunder God" and filmed it on the old Viking site, Jomsborg, home of the Jomsvikings in Wolin, Poland.

“Our brothers from Jomsvikings traveled from far and wide, places like Poland, Germany, Belgium, England, Australia and USA to be part of this great video.

“It seemed that the Thunder God was on our side when shooting the video because a hurricane/storm passed through the area during the day, creating the chaotic and violent atmosphere we were hoping for. It was the toughest conditions we ever recorded a video in, blood and sweat, quite literally both, were part of the making. But we don’t mind getting our hands dirty and metal was never supposed to be ‘nice.’ In fact we couldn’t have wished for a more fitting video shoot for this song, being the Ragnarök and all!”

AMON AMARTH’s new studio album, Twilight of the Thunder God, will be released on September 19 in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Italy; September 22 in the rest of Europe; and September 30 in North America.

The CD will be available in the following versions:

    1. Jewelcase CD including full album and 24-page booklet.

    2. Limited Deluxe Collector’s edition three-disc-set in a special DVD-sized book including full album, a bonus CD and a bonus DVD. The Summer Breeze 2007 CD and DVD have a playing time of 72 minutes each. The DVD features Dolby Surround 5.1 sound and 16:9 format. 40-page book on special offset paper with parchment pages.

    3. Gatefold-2-LP on 180g with one side being etched vinyl including full album and a huge poster! Limited to 1,500 copies!

    4. Picture Disc — full album — limited to 500 copies!

    5. Limited Bubblehead edition including everything that’s in the Deluxe Collector’s Edition plus bubbleheads of each AMON AMARTH member plus the 36-page-comic book on high-quality paper plus a huge poster. Each bobblehead has a height of 18 cm = 7″! Limited to 2,000 units worldwide!

In support of Twilight of the Thunder God, AMON AMARTH has announced a fall, 2008 North American headlining tour. The scheduled three-week trek will kick off on October 1 at the House of Blues in Anaheim, CA. Support on the AMON AMARTH tour will be provided by Helsinki folk-metal act ENSIFERUM, Austrian blackened death metal band BELPHEGOR and Tampa, Florida melodic death metal troupe THE ABSENCE.

Following the completion of the North American headlining tour, AMON AMARTH will embark on a month-long European tour as hand-picked support for thrash metal titans SLAYER and the band’s “Unholy Alliance Chapter III” tour. Also appearing on the tour will be MASTODON and TRIVIUM. AMON AMARTH will also play four shows at Zeche in Bochum, Germany in late December under the banner “Bloodshed Over Bochum”. The band will play one of its first four albums in its entirety each night along with a “best-of” mix from Fate of Norns (2004), With Oden On Our Side (2006) and Twilight of the Thunder God.

When Relapse did their “special edition” release for one of the Nile albums it came with a fucking necklace. Amon Amarth is going to have bobbleheads of each band member as part of their special edition release. Fucking bobbleheads! That’s how they roll, motherfucker! I’m tempted to order one just so I can say “I have Amon Amarth bobbleheads and you don’t you fuckign poseur!” Yeah, I’m a fucking nerd, what of it?

  • Unfortunately it seems Agathocles‘ Tony Schepkens has passed away. Here’s the story from Blabbermouth

According to the web site of the Belgian grind band AGATHOCLES, the group’s bassist Tony Schepkens passed away on August 1, 2008 at the age of 35.

A posting on the site reads: “Best friend, radical hard head and mince core noise DIY militant. When the Earth trembes and shakes, we know you are making noise in Hell. When thunder and lightning strikes us, we know you are doing noise in Heaven.”

AGATHOCLES recently spent time in the studio putting the finishing on its new full-length album, Grind is Protest, for a fall release via Displeased Records. According to a press release, the new CD “will be even more brutal and in your face” than its predecessor, 2006’s Mincer.

While I was never a huge Agathocles fan, I have a great appreciation and respect for their dedication and passion for the music they played. Shitty!

  • California prog metallers Intronaut will have their next full length offering, Prehistoricisms released by Century Media Records on September 16th.

Progressive titans INTRONAUT are set to unveil their highly anticipated new album, Prehistoricisms, on September 16. For those who are eagerly awaiting the release, a widget has now been made available below which features two tracks from the album, "Australopithecus" and "The Literal Black Cloud"

Commented INTRONAUT guitarist/vocalist Sacha Dunable: “I can’t even begin to express how excited we are about this record. It’s definitely our most densely packed body of work yet. In addition to the standard INTRONAUT angle of attack, we have some surprises including an awesome guest solo from NEGATIVA/GORGUTS guitarist Steeve Hurdle, as well as some truly jaw-dropping moments of Indian/metal fusion courtesy of Joe and Dave. Stoked.”

INTRONAUT can currently be seen on the “Ultimate Brodeo Tour” alongside MOUTH OF THE ARCHITECT and BEHOLD… THE ARCTOPUS.

As a rule, I hate prog metal, but like all rules there are exceptions, and Intronaut are certainly an exception to that rule. I’m a big fan of their three previous recordings, hopefully they don’t suffering from the disease known as Century Media Suckitus, which tends to happen any time a band goes from being awesome, then signs to Century Media and start to suck. It’s a real disease, look it up!

  • Blabbermouth recently reported that Angelcorpse guitarist Gene Palubicki’s new project Blasphemic Cruelty are set to release their debut full length offering through Osmose Productions.

ANGELCORPSE guitarist Gene Palubicki has issued the following update on his new project, BLASPHEMIC CRUELTY:

“The BLASPHEMIC CRUELTY debut album entitled Devil’s Mayhem is now complete. Work has been done in sessions on and off since April this year. The final swing covering three weeks ending on August 1 was an extreme guerilla warfare recording/mixing process resulting in an album erupting with frenzied blasting malevolence. Totally grim, hellish death/thrash terror and darkness. We’ll soon be setting up an official MySpace page and regular webpage. Also, we will have a sample track to hear, and the sites will show our first merchandise items available.

“I must thank my bandmates Gina Ambrosio (drums) and Alex Blume (bass, vocals) for their exhaustive efforts in this creation, as well as Juan ‘Punchy’ Gonzalez for his work engineering this album. Watch for this release through Osmose Productions soon.”

I’m no big fan of Angelcorpse and I haven’t heard any Blasphemic Cruelty tunes, so I’m not sure what to expect, but I am a fan of huge jugs and drummer Gina has some enormous tatas. I’m not joking, they’re like Sputnik, spherical but quite pointy in parts. She enjoys cooking, baking, swimming, shooting and worshipping Satan. I think I’m in love.

  • What do you get when you take Phlegeton from Wormed, Rober of Machetazo and Rogga Johansson of Paganizer? Banished From Inferno! Here’s the press release from Ibex Moon Records;

BANISHED FROM INFERNO’s MCD is available from Ibex Moon Records and select other outlets worldwide NOW!

BANISHED FROM INFERNO features in its ranks longtime friends Rober (MACHETAZO), Phlegeton (WORMED, GODÜS, HUMAN MINCER) and Rogga Johansson (PAGANIZER, RIBSPREADER, DEMIURG, EDGE OF SANITY). The band’s only aim is to play some evil and beer-fucked old-school death metal mostly influenced by CELTIC FROST, OBITUARY, DARKTHRONE, BATHORY, old Scandinavian metal and stuff like that.

BANISHED FROM INFERNO’s as-yet-untitled debut album will be released in 2009.

I checked out the MySpace tracks and it sounds pretty fucking killer, really solid old school death metal. Looks like another quality release by Ibex Moon Records to pick up!
