Another Kind Of Death are one in a long line of douche bags who decided to form a screaming metalcore band and they embrace the music and fashion in ways only the biggest poseurs can. They’ve got the fashion down, everything from the tight t-shirts and designer label “scruffy” blue jeans, to the one size too small hoodies, to the thick black rimmed glasses and the hipster doofus haircuts. These guys scream “Lame!” and their music matches their appearance perfectly.

Sleepless Every Night contains 10 tracks of screaming metalcore spread out over 28 minutes. Every metalcore cliché you can think of is contained on this album. For the most part the band sticks to a pretty simple formula which consists of ripping off Norma Jean, Converge and Zao, as well as a little bit of The Black Dahlia Murder, minus the Gothenburg influences, and even a little bit of The Dillinger Escape Plan.

The riffs are short and predictable, the drumming is simplistic and the entire album is filled with the relentless high pitched shrieking that plagues this style of music. Every time I hear this style of vocals it reminds me of the frenzied shrieks of a teenage girl upon seeing a teen idol in a shopping mall. In this instance I assume the singers are screaming excitedly because the other band members are having a naked cock in ass orgy on the couch while the singer is kicking and screaming trying to free himself from the recording booth so he can impale himself on his band mates’ dicks.

Another Kind Of Death provide nothing new, innovative or interesting with Sleepless Every Night. There are a few bands in the metalcore genre who can play this style effectively and create truly entertaining music, but those bands are few and far between, but that doesn’t stop all of these wanna-bes from starting up their own stupid bands and making noise for the sake of making noise.

My only advice I can offer these bands is this; stop it! Just stop it! Get a decent haircut and spend your money on something other than instruments… like a personality. I’d say fuck metalcore fans, but they’d like that entirely too much for it not to become awkward and weird. Written By: Teufel

I enjoy metalcore on a certain level but I begin to draw when a band who practices the aforementioned genre focuses solely on the aspect of making a bunch of noise as opposed to writing music. These guys are no different and I say this living in an area where for some reason metalcore is prevalent among people. Most of their music consists of an over-abundant amount of breakdowns and vocal styles that all sound the same.

Most anything with “core” as a suffix sucks.
