ASRA is gearing up their first "proper" release this summer, entitled The Way of All Flesh. They play the kind of death metal that you may have found on Earache or Roadrunner in 1993.

On their 2006 demo, ASRA show themselves to be very tight musical outfit with a good ear for vocal contrast. The strongest vocals come not from their main vocalist (who has thankfully been replaced, as he sounds and looks like Dane Cook holding a platter of hamburgers while trying to mosh and sing along at a Pyrexia show circa 1998), but from the drummer and guitarists’ back-up shrieks and Man Is The Bastard-esque barks.

This is a tease of things to come from this band. Nothing too original, but a solid unit none the less. Check out their full-length later this summer, as well as their shows if you live in the greater NY area, as they play every couple of days.

Johnward Johnsonton; it’s more Death Metal than Grind, you hog-tied rectum bandit. I’ve played with the band numerous times, and they are a fucking Death Metal band with vague hints of grind and even more vague hints of power-violence. But since you’re a Nick-Hogan-Car-Wreck of a human being who gets his genre classification from Decibel magazine, it’s pointless to explain this to you.
