The Japanese are renown for taking foreign concepts and improving upon them, so it should come as no surprise to anyone that when introduced to grindcore they were able to pick it apart and put it back together better, faster and stronger than it had ever been before. The Japanese are also obsessed with poop. So what do you get when you mix poop and Japanese grindcore? You get Bathtub Shitter. This release is a re-issue of the group’s vinyl LP from 2000 of the same name, originally limited to 1100 copies, with a couple of bonus tracks, in their original form. No remixing. No remastering. The CD version contains 12 tracks of fucked up Japanese-styled grindcore clocking in at just under 21 minutes. Included on this release are three cover songs; Extreme Noise Terror’s "We The Helpless", Scum’s "Imitation Of Life" and Holy Moses‘ "Fuck You". The majority of the album is blazing fast grindcore, with short, catchy tunes, minimalistic drumming, shredding riffs, and a greatly varied dual vocal assault. The high vocals sound like a Japanese woman being raped and strangled with her underwear, whereas the lows sound like the sadistic rapist growling like an animal. Sometimes the high vocals become a bit much and come across as being more hilarious than anything, but overall don’t really distract from the music too much. Nearly all of the songs are short exercises in blasting and shredding, with the exception for the Holy Moses cover which is basically a 5 minute slow-paced doom track. Bathtub Shitter actually remind me a bit of Cephalic Carnage in that they have so many influences and styles they fuse into their music, and are able to pull it all off pretty well, though they aren’t nearly as off the wall and varied as the Colorado hydrogrinders, opting to generally remain playing the same blasting grindcore style the majority of the time. Though this is hardly the most unique, technical or original grindcore out there, it’s still one of the more intense and entertaining and well worth the time to check out, and is a worthy purchase for fans of blasting old school grindcore as well as fans of other Bathtub Shitter material. I still can’t figure out what the fuck the title Wall Of World Is Words is supposed to mean though, it’s just another bizarre mystery from the orient to me, like Shokku-shu kei, Waki no Shita Fetchi or Onara, only more confusing.
