Consisting of Pathology drummer/vocalist Dave Astor and bassist Tim Tiszczenko, San Diego’s Being Killed are a two man drum machine fueled brutal death grind act that sees Dave playing bass, doing vocals and programming the drum machine while Tim handles the guitar playing duties.

Their debut offering Massacre Of The Living on brutal death metal label Sevared Records is 20 tracks of blasting, shredding brutal death grind that clocks in at just over 20 minutes. It also completely fucking sucks.

The thing that sticks out the most about Massacre Of The Living is the horribly programmed drum machine that’s so high in the mix it often drowns out the guitars and vocals. Considering Dave is the drummer in Pathology you’d figure he could at least play the drums on this effort himself, but he must have been too busy smoking meth and trying to figure out which end of his bass faces up. It’s pretty much relentless blasts with a lot of cymbal crashes that make the percussion on Mortician releases sound amazing in comparison.

The song structure… is non existent. Every song sounds pretty much the same, lots of simple shredding with overly processed barked vocals on top. With the drum machine jammed in there every song ends up being a wall of noise and it’s not entertaining noise either, just really obnoxious shit, like tossing metal can into a garbage disposal unit. On top of everything else, the artwork is just stupid.

If there was any rhyme or reason to the mindless noise on this release it might not suck as bad as it does, but it really just sounds like something two guys did for fun in their garage while smoking meth and pooping on each others’ chest. This is just total garbage, don’t waste your money on this, you’ll regret it. Fucking horrible, even for shitty lo-fi basement brutal death grind. What a waste of plastic.
