Running a metal review site/webzine means I get a lot of stuff sent my way that the average metalhead has never heard of and would never seek out themselves. Sometimes the music sent my way is a pleasant surprise and a truly phenomenal release while others are so horrible or completely out of place that I wonder if I’ve been placed on a retard’s mailing list.

One of the oddest releases I’ve received is Experimentation With Masturbation… Gone Wrong! by one man experimental noise project Big Deformed Head. To call the shit Jose Angeles creates music is being far too generous.

To get an accurate idea of the noise contained on this disc, you must first turn on your radio and turn the dial so it’s close enough to a radio station that you can hear staticy noise, but not actually make out what’s being said or played. Next, dust off an old TV, adjust your rabbit ears and turn it to the nearest local station featuring the emergency broadcast signal, be sure to adjust the antenna just enough that it’s really staticy. Next up, load up your washing machining machine and make sure the load is uneven and fill your dryer with rocks. Finally, get an oscillating electric fan and scream into it randomly. Then do this for 80 minutes straight. Congratulations, you now know what listening to Experimentation With Masturbation… Gone Wrong! sounds like. It sounds like shit.

That’s not to say Jose Angeles is incapable of coming up with some interesting rhythms. Oddly enough, despite the annoying noise there are some catchy moments on this effort and it really makes me wonder what he could come up with if he actually tried to write some serious material. Unfortunately, it seems he’s more focused on acting like a retard and making noise for the sake of making noise, rather than creating anything even remotely resembling music. I listened to this for 20 minutes and started to think it would be a good idea to carve out my eyes with a razor blade and dip my face in battery acid.

You could listen to Big Deformed Head if you really wanted to, but you’d be better off running a chainsaw next to your ear for an hour and a half with no protection, it would be a much more pleasant experience. Actually, you’d be better off putting the chainsaw through your head. All I can say is I hope this dude really is retarded, otherwise he’s got no excuse for making this shit other than he’s an annoying asshole. Congratulations, Jose, you’re fucking terrible. Please find everything used to make this album smash it with a sledgehammer to ensure you don’t do it again.

Loved the review. For the record I’m not a retard that failed at making brilliant music, I’m an asshole that succeeded at ridiculous noise. Btw the guitar I used for that album I killed/retired at a General Surgery/Ghoul show last month. Didn’t use a sledgehammer though, just threw and stomped at it at the end of the set.

  yeah anyone familiar with Masonna or Merzbow isn’t really going to react as strongly over my shit (I just mix a Masonna influence with extraone and speedcore pretty much). That’s why I like sending out the Cd to metal webzines, it comes out of left field and annoys the fuck out of them.
