Last year Dutch gore freaks Bile released a musical homage to the classic horror flick Friday The 13th in the form of the surprisingly solid Camp Blood, 2006 brings the re-release of their 2000 tribute to the Texas Chainsaw Massacre series The Shed.

The Shed has a similar feel as Camp Blood, only with a slightly rougher production. The music has the same Mortician-meets-Cock And Ball Torture-meets-Regurgitate-meets-Last Days Of Humanity classic goregrind sound with a mix of fast flesh shredding and slow chunky sludgy riffs, skull smashing blastbeats, audio samples and truly evil sounding pitch shifted vocals.

As you sit through the effort you’ll either be groovin’ to the crunchy midtempo moments, thrashing to the insane grinding or doing your regular chainsaw maintenance while reciting passages from the first two flicks.

There’s nothing new or original contained on this effort, nothing that will redefine the genre, but it does contain some really solid goregrind that you can’t help but listen to over and over again. The only disappointment for me is the re-release didn’t include some similarly fun artwork as Camp Blood featuring a new spin on the classic Texas Chainsaw Massacre poster, but hopefully the band will come up with some interesting subject matter for their next studio effort. Regardless, this is still a worthy… nay… mandatory purchase for all goregrind fanatics! Written By: Teufel
