Since the arrival of George Fisher to the band in 1995, many people have felt Cannibal Corpse would never be able to regain the form they once possessed with Chris Barnes in the vocal slot. 1998’s Gallery Of Suicide is the second album with Corpsegrinder, and the first with his ex-Monstrosity band mate Pat O’Brien. Unfortunately, I consider this album to be a continuing regression for the once mighty Cannibal Corpse. The guitaring is probably the most technical the band has played to date, unfortunately the album is plagued with lazy drumming and poor vocal pattern selection. Tracks like "I Will Kill You", "Sentenced To Burn", the instrumental "From Skin To Liquid", "Stabbed In The Throat" and "Centuries Of Torment" are on par, and in some cases better, than Barnes-era Corpse, unfortunately there aren’t any tracks which really stand out like Tomb Of The Mutilated’s "Hammer Smashed Face" or The Bleeding’s "Stripped Raped And Strangled". With stronger drumming and better vocal selection, this album would be right up there with Tomb Of The Mutilated or The Bleeding, it’s on par with Vile but with a bit more of a The Bleeding sound. Not as good as Barnes’ final album with the group, but not as bad as Fisher’s first.
