Over a period of eight years, Sweden’s Centinex have quickly developed a cult-like status among underground European metal fans. I personally don’t really see why. The music itself has the typical Swedish groove and rather simplistic with the forced and fairly weak vocals of Lamppu and the incredibly irritating "’Kalimaa’" drum machine. The guitaring is decent, but nothing ground breaking or earth shattering, but the rhythm is fairly catchy. The band seems to be heavily influenced from 80s thrash metal as they use a lot of similar riffs and tunings used during that era. The vocal patterns aren’t the greatest on this CD often going off in a completely different rhythm than the music. They do a cover of Kreator’s "Under The Guillotine" which should probably have been chopped straight off the album since it’s pretty horrible. The only cool track on the entire album is "Molested" which employs much deeper vocals than on previous tracks with a more brutal approach to the entire track musically. As I stated earlier, the guitaring is pretty good, although I’ve never really been a fan of the 80s thrash tuning. The vocals are horrible, the only thing worse is the incredibly annoying drum machine. It totally ruins anything the band was attempting to achieve and is completely lame and way too synthetic. If Centinex were to hire an actual drummer and change vocalists they might not be so bad, but they’ve somehow gained a cult following with the line-up and sound they already have, then again no one ever claimed Swedish metal fans have good taste in music. I guess if you’re into the Swedish sound you might want to pick this up, I just wouldn’t recommend it.
