From the ashes of Carnal Tomb comes Cock And Ball Torture, a German trio, unparalleled in sickness, brutality and perversion. Both pressings of their debut mCD Cocktales have sold out and the band has quickly become a power in the gore-grind underground. My introduction to the band was on Razorback Records’ tribute to Impetigo where they covered "Red Wigglers" and made the album, completely destroying all of the high profile acts on the album, making groups like Mortician, Impaled and Exhumed sound like boy bands in comparison. Their debut full length, Opus(sy) VI, is 21 tracks of pure perversion and pummeling humiliation and suffering. The longest song on the album is a mere 2:38, and all of the songs are fast, straight ahead and no nonsense. Comparisons can be made to gore-grind legends Gut and Hemdale. The riffing is very simple and repetitive with a very thick chugging guitar sound and the drumming has the complexity of a drunkard bashing pots with a wooden spoon while trying not to fall over. The real strength of the band is in the vocals, handled by drummer Sascha Pahlke. Obviously the vocals use harmonizers and pitch shifters, however they are pulled off so well that it only helps make the music ten times as sick. Cock And Ball Torture will never overwhelm you with their technical prowess, nor will they amaze with their lyrics, all they will do is fuck your sister when you aren’t looking, and that’s the kind of band you’ve gotta love. The music is sick, simple and heavier than your fat momma in the back seat of a Buick. This band is all about oral pleasure and aural decimation. Sure they may not be the most talented or impressive group, but they know how to write entertaining songs that will leave you thrashing well into the night, gurgling like a crazed beast trying to tear off your own flesh! Listen to Cock And Ball Torture and let them violate your ear drums. After listening to Opus(sy) VI, you’ll be more than satisfied draining the white fluid out of your ears with a cotton swab in the morning. Trust me!
