After going through several months of worship after hearing Abramelin‘s Transgression From Acheron EP (a brutal death metal album that every true fan of brutality should have in their collection) and their self-titled CD, I’d heard they were hard at work recording new material with a new drummer who was apparently more insane than former skinsman Euan; Matt from a band called Damaged. Hoping to get a better understanding of what the band’s drumming style would take in the future I decided to pick up Damaged‘s most recent CD, Token Remedies Research, when I happened to come across it while browsing through CDs at a local record store. After listening to this album several hundred times since then all I’ve got to say is HOLY SHIT! This album is simply amazing. From the erratically unique drumming style, to the thick, heavy rhythms this band took me back. What really floored me, however, were the insanely fast vocals of James who spews hate out at a mile a minute in parts. The band combines elements of death metal, thrash and hardcore to form a being of pure hate which simply can’t be contained. While "Change" is the only song I don’t like on this album, the rest of the CD is some of the best shit to tear through my eardrums in a very long time. The best way I can describe this band would be to take Napalm Death, make it heavier, angrier and faster with motor mouth vocals and you have a glimpse as to what Damaged are like. I could go on for hours about how great this band is, but I think this is basically the kind of thing you have to hear for yourself. If you don’t go apeshit over this, there’s obviously something very wrong with you. Simply amazing.
