Inbreeding The Anthropophagi, Deeds Of Flesh’s second full length CD, is eight tracks of pure technical double vocal brutality. The band did what they set out to do; create the most brutal and technical death metal out there, unfortunately, there is such a thing as too technical. The drumming throughout the album doesn’t really gel well with the music, often becoming too complex for the guitar playing. The first three tracks; "End Of All", "Feeding Time" and the title track are nothing to write home about, they basically all continue on the same musical pattern with little difference between the three tracks. The only songs which caught my attention were the middle three tracks; "Infecting Them With Falsehood", "Canvas Of Flesh" and "Ritual Of Battle". The groove to these three tracks makes it very easy to get into. "Fly Shrine" and a re-recording of "Gradually Melted" aren’t easy to get into. Based on the band’s previous work, I was ready to give this album a perfect score before hearing it, unfortunately, it didn’t live up to my expectations. If it weren’t for the high-end vocals, this album wouldn’t be worth the listen, the low vocals are plain and lack range. If you dig brutal and technical, check out Deeds Of Flesh, I just wouldn’t recommend picking up Inbreeding….
