After Sick Atoms, I didn’t have much hope for Negligent Collateral Collapse. It wasn’t that Sick Atoms outright sucked, per say, it was simply that it was such a drop in quality from Negligent Collateral Collapse’s past releases that it only seemed the worse was going to happen. Negligent Collateral Collapse, however, are no more.
Just like that. Poof! Gone with the wind. On one hand, they solidified their reputation as one of the Czech Republic’s best goregrind acts by ending so early. On the other hand, they never got a chance to rebound from Sick Atoms. Or so it seems.
When you first hear Eardelete’s debut Zombieology, the immediate thing that you will scream will be, "Holy shit, these guys are shamelessly ripping off Negligent Collateral Collapse!" Eardelete possesses a breed of pitch-shifted, speedy, groove-centric goregrind not unlike Negligent Collateral Collapse’s Paranormal Nanodivision. It’s almost identical, actually. It’s as if Negligent Collateral Collapse and Eardelete were the same band.
That’s because they are. SURPRISE! Negligent Collateral Collapse didn’t break up. They just changed their drummer and said, "Fuck it, let’s start over!" Bam! New name, new discography, but same old groove-tastic goregrind. And how much of Negligent Collateral Collapse’s old sound does Eardelete exactly retain? Let’s put it this way: Sick Atoms? Never heard of the album.
Zombieology is, for all intents and purposes, the true successor to Paranormal Nanodivision and Re-Process Segment Database Extender. Gone are the sluggish, boring hooks of Sick Atoms. Eardelete delivers nothing but catchy, speedy, rhythmic, groove-focused goregrind from beginning to end. It’s not as good as Paranormal Nanodivision, but it’s definitely in that quality range. The pig-squealing pitch-shifted vocals still croak away, and the riffing hammers down on the listener like a 3 ton lard zombie, slamming his ham fist into a delicious morsel’s fleshy face like a pneumatic sledgehammer. Eardelete judiciously scatters the horror movie sampling here or there, only throwing in about 2 short samples which is more than perfect. And the drumming trots along, hitting every zombie fisted blow to the face, without giving into the temptation to blast away without any reason. Everything you loved about Negligent Collateral Collapse is here, without the sins of Sick Atoms.
Pick up Zombieology as soon as you can. It’s everyone’s favorite Czech act under a new name. Negligent Collateral Collapse is dead, long live Eardelete!
