Ever since about 1994 I considered Enslaved to be better than 90% of the bands in the scene. The last album Enslaved released, Eld, I still consider to be one of the better releases in the history of "viking metal". Now, I am saddened to say, Enslaved is dead, they suck now, and BAD! I received this as a tape from a friend who had received the promo before I did, and I was overjoyed when it arrived in the mail. I popped it into my tape deck to find, instead of an epic Norse hymn, it was merely a white noise intro with some outer space like sounds mixed in. As the record progresses, I find the music is very retro-esque and filled with flashy guitar solos. While I have not seen the lyrics yet, I doubt that they could change my opinions about this horrendous pile of crap. Enslaved R.I.P.
