Good grief, here be a rather brash slice of Italian prog/power metal with some really far-out synthesizer elements to supposedly make this bands’ third album stand apart from the pack. I can tell you that this is my first time listening to this and well, I don’t know. There are a couple of nice anthemic rock parts to it, but holy smokes, 90% of this is just not crafted very well at all, unable to successfully transfer from concept to concept. It’s a bit of a poorly structured mess all the way across the board.

Think of an industrial-influenced Rhapsody and we might be on the same page, which is sort of sad because the obvious lack of chit chat about wizards and dragons is a nice break from the mold. However the glammy vibrato seems much too boisterous and in your face, lacking in any energy whatsoever. Instead, you are left with some pretty wack vocal doubling. It’s pretty bad…

The band fails in two ways. The aggression expressed on this is about as menacing as a tea party. Also, I think the band is coming up way short when attempting for a dark ambient approach. It would be much cooler to hear the keys emulate the tones of the guitars here. Shit, it would be cooler if Event Horizon chose to rip off Boston instead.

I’m passing on this. And then braking. And then putting it into reverse. And then passing on it again. And so on and so forth. Yeesh.
