I don’t get it. I totally dug early Carcass, their musical sickness still plagues my CD player fairly often. For some reason I just can’t seem to get all the way into their pseudo-clone Exhumed. The music is heavy, hard and fast, nothing wrong there, the blast beat drumming patterns are horrible, the band are able to come across with a few cool tracks though. "Open The Abscess" is sick and heavy enough for me to be able to get into it with a steady beat, strong guitar and bass work and decent vocal patterns, although the high vocals are extremely fucking annoying. "Post-Mortem Procedures" is equally strong musically with a great groove and excellent low vocals. "Enucleation" has a hard and heavy groove with great brutal thrash-death musicianship, just once again lacking in the vocal department. "In My Human Slaughterhouse…" is another killer tune with great groove and shitloads of aggression and "Sepulchral Slaughter" and "Deadest Of The Dead" are brutal enough to get anyone’s hair twirling and thrashing about. The band also does a cover of Sodom’s "Sodomy & Lust" which I totally cannot stand. I really hate the high vocals for this group, they irritate the shit out of me, I wish someone would just punch that gimp in the throat and shatter his voice box. Musically the band shows signs of greatness, yet have as many horrible songs as they do decent tracks. I’ve been hearing people praise this album to no end, but I personally have little to no praise for it. Once again another overrated and over hyped Relapse release.
