Grindcore isn’t dead! While many of the originators of the genre have moved onto other things, a new wave of hate fueled lunatics have stepped up to pick up the slack. One of the acts leading the charge for the new wave of the grinding blast brigade is Poland’s Exit Wounds. Their 2007 No Escape debut, 17 Wounds Of Exit, was a blazing fast shred, blast and shriek-a-thon that saw the band tear through 17 tracks in a blistering 10 minutes. In 2008 Exit Wounds are back to up the ante offering up their self titled release containing 30 tracks in 23 minutes of ear splitting hate fueled fury!

Exit Wounds picks up exactly where 17 Wounds Of Exit left off as the band unleash a blistering brand of high paced Swede-flavored grindcore. This isn’t one of those grindcore albums you can politely tap your foot and nod to, this is one of those discs that you toss in the stereo, crank the volume until the speakers start to bubble and melt while forming a one man mosh pit, terrorizing your furniture, pets and any one who dares step into the living room.

The riffing, which is reminiscent of Retaliation, Gadget, Regurgitate, Suppository and Birdflesh, is sharp, fast and violent. The dual vocal assault of guitarist Bahama and Squash Bowels bassist Paluch, is equally intense, as they take turns screaming and shrieking at the top of their lungs with the intensity and rage of a mental patient. Drummer Voytello rounds out the destructive sound by beating his kit like it’s a redheaded stepchild.

As I stated on my review of 17 Wounds Of Exit, Exit Wounds aren’t doing anything new or original with this release. If you’re looking for something new and inventive, keep looking, but if you’re looking to get punched in the mouth, kicked in the teeth and beaten with sticks in the most brutal fashion then Exit Wounds is the disc for you! Definitely a worthy addition to any grindcore enthusiasts collection! Recommended!
