I’ve never been a big fan of cyberporn/gore, as I find bands like Libido Airbag, SMES, Nunwhore Commando 666 and Anal Penetration to generally be both boring and completely shite. When I received the demo of London-based Eyetofuk, I couldn’t help but not want to bother listening to it, but having given it a few listens, I have to admit I’m glad that I did. Wankfest 2666 is 11 tracks of completely warped, demented, catchy and all-around goofy cyber techno/industrial-heavy porngrind from the mind of the deviant simply known as Xlip. The songs are all relatively short, generally under two minutes, with no percussions, plenty of chuggy industrial riffs, bizarre samples galore, pitch shifted vocals and enough insanity to make you question the mental state of the man behind it all. As much as I want to hate this and call it a complete waste, it’s not, it’s just really really stupid, but at the same time really fun to listen to, unlike many other bands in the genre. They’re obviously heavily influenced by Libido Airbag, but are nowhere near as boring. I’m not saying this is something I’ll be listening to regularly, but, for the genre, it’s definitely one of the most amusing I’ve heard. If you’re into cybergrind or any techno/industrial-fused fucked up music, this is definitely worth your attention, and even if you don’t like it, the album cover is filled with enough hardcore pornographic imagery to make those lonely computerless nights wanktastic.
