When I first listened to this album, I fucking hated it. It was all over the place and did not contain any cohesion at all. Many listens later, I have completely changed my mind, it just clicked. I do not know if it was the mood I was in or I was high but this album fucking annihilates and drags you through itself in the seediest, most vile ways possible. Drull is one ugly, disgusting piece of music. Thirty eight minutes of pure hatred soaking in a toxic cesspool of muck filled riffs and thunderous drums. The vocals are tortured screams but not in a pansy, "Hey look at me, I’m a Zoloft riddled, misunderstood nag" kind of way. The vocalist is screaming with poise and fury. Some people may be quick to dismiss them as another sludge band, but hell no! Instead of boring you to shit like a great deal of sludge bands, Goatsblood speeds things up in all the right places. In between the destructive and sluggish parts to the grinding lunacy of the rest, the music kept me guessing with every turn. An added bonus is the top notch artwork. A black and white hallucinogenic nightmare of drawings, as ugly as the music, adorns each page of the inner sleeve. Goatsblood is like your first time masturbating, it’s strange at first but you soon relish every second of it. I bet these guys go apeshit live.
