Obscura is the perfect name for this, because it should be obscured, and never heard again. The technicality of the music makes it impossible to listen to, and the vocals are standard Gorguts fare. I am not a very good guitar player (hell, I even suck) and know mostly nothing about playing a guitar, but from the chaps I know who do play guitar well, they tell me this album is beyond impossible to play. The songs seem to have no congruity and are just a mesh of annoying noises mixed with cool vocals. The drums are one of the high points of this album, with great time changes and patterns, but this is definitely not enough of a reason to purchase an album. I would get this disk if you are looking for some technical, but non-musical death metal, if you haven’t heard Gorguts before just get the classic Erosion Of Sanity, and listen to it over and over instead.
