Hate Profile was founded in 1998 by Amon 418 (ex-Baratro, Opposite Sides and Hortus Animae) in order to give life to his musical and lyrical urges.  Though he is the sole member of this project, Amon has received a helping hand on this album from drummer GroM (Hortus Animae and Ancient) and artist Fabban (Aborym) .  Opus I: The Khaos Hatefile is the first part in a scheduled trilogy and needless to say, this first installment is pretty intense.

This is some  uncompromising, cold, dark and hateful music that borrows just as much from the old school black metal bands of the late 1980s-early 1990s  as they do from the newer symphonic and orthodox styled bands of today.  Amon 418’s vocals rasp and screech in agony through eight deadly tracks and his memorable and melodic guitar riffs  are supported by the blazing drum work of GroM. There are some electronic elements and processed spoken word passages that remind me of present day Satyricon and Thorns,  but luckily he manages to do this while moving right along with the music and keeping things interesting.   My only complaint with this release is the lack of of printed lyrics but with song titles such as "Demons In Me" and "Bleeding Black Heart", it’s easy to comprehend that Amon 418 is not a happy camper.

Overall, The Khaos Hatefile is a comprehensive album that will captivate audiences from all over the black metal spectrum.  If you are in search of intelligent, well thought out black metal and find yourself tired of the teenage necro legions who have the audacity to present the community with thoughtless -forty minute-shrieking-recorded in Mom’s bedroom with the family dog as an audience black metal, then give this album a listen. I look forward to the next two releases in Amon 418’s grim trilogy.
