Human Mincer
Degradation Paradox

Genre:Brutal Death GrindFormat:CDTracks:8
Label:Brutal BandsYear:2008

We need to have a talk. Go ahead and have a seat. Your mother and I have decided that if you don’t buy the Human Mincer CD immediately, we won’t be taking you to Disneyland this summer. Now go do it before shit gets drastic.

PHLEGETON IS BACK!!!!!!!!! What happens when Wormed loses a guitarist and gets a new drummer? Human Mincer. What happens when you combine the sound of Wormed with Malignancy? You fuckin’ guessed it. In a year that has flooded my ears with killer releases piled high and deep, this album stands above all else. As I listened to this album for the first three times last night, I had a big stupid grin on my face like I was a Manson family member. It just feels right. Every track clocks in at 3 minutes and change. There are no songs that dabble in doom or anything extraneous. They have a new formula that is pure. This is 27 minutes of high-octane devastation that has been highly anticipated.

Human Mincer
has been around since ‘99. They released their first full-length, Devoured Flesh, in 2005 with a different bassist and vocalist from the present lineup. In 2006 Phlegeton and Guillemoth replaced the pre-exiting members. They actually did some touring as well. Well, two years later we are rewarded handsomely. Just a wild guess, I’ll assume that Degradation Paradox is superior to Devoured Flesh. I don’t see any North American tours planned, but one can hope.

I haven’t yet done a side-by-side listen with Planisphaerium, but it will happen. To be the champ, you have to beat the champ. I would love to hear people’s comparisons. My prediction…a 12th round decision. You be the judge.

P.S. – Your top 10 list of 2008 chugs cock harder than your aunt if this isn’t on top.

This Album Is...
Excellent
Highly Recommended! Buy This!

I need to listen to this album…but what has happened with Wormed? will they ever record anything else?
And I hope this new drummer is not too different from the guy that played in Wormed, as the prog-jazz-grind-whatever drumming in Planisphaerium is one of the most interesting performances I have ever heard in an extreme metal record.

I was worried about the drumming too. It is not the same, but it is killer. They have a more direct and grinding death sound so there is blasting for days. I was not let down at all because it is a different sound. The other drumming style would possibly be awkward in the Human Mincer style. Wormed was working on new material for a while but then Human Mincer came along. It is a damn shame, but we’re lucky we’ve got this for sure. I think the fact that the Wormed album was so unique, in large part due to the drums, makes it the 12th round winner.

I found this on metal archives:
“They are Active. I have asked them on their myspace, and this was the answer
    Hey!
    We’re still composing new tracks.
Very soon will be news about the band, I hope that at the end of this year.
For sure in 2009 new music will be posted.
    Cheers.
    Javier/WORMED”

    now…what about Lykathea Aflame?

about Lykathea Aflame (or Lykathe): funnily all I did was to ask Tom Corn himself what happens with the band. (What a small world we live in, haha!). He will soon will talk with Ptoe, that´s all I know, not sure if they are going to do something with the band or not. But I remember that the re-recording of an “elvenefris” song with female vocals and orchestra that appeared on a “obscene” compilation was not something for everyone into death metal…

I have that compilation. I actually contacted Obscene a few years ago about possibly re-issuing Elvenefris in North America with the re-recorded track as a bonus, but never did finalize anything. The re-recorded track is definitely… different, very… yeah…

Wormed are still active (seen them live a couple of time over the past few years) but I guess they know that they can’t top Planisphaerium so they don’t even bother. They don’t have any new songs and usually repeat a few of their old material to fill up their set.

    Their first album is “Embryonized”.

I want to someone to grab the rights to Elvenefris and maybe do a 2 or 3 disc set with it and remastered copies of both Appalling Spawn’s album and demo.

Has anyone suggested that to Obscene?
