PHLEGETON IS BACK!!!!!!!!! What happens when Wormed loses a guitarist and gets a new drummer? Human Mincer. What happens when you combine the sound of Wormed with Malignancy? You fuckin’ guessed it. In a year that has flooded my ears with killer releases piled high and deep, this album stands above all else. As I listened to this album for the first three times last night, I had a big stupid grin on my face like I was a Manson family member. It just feels right. Every track clocks in at 3 minutes and change. There are no songs that dabble in doom or anything extraneous. They have a new formula that is pure. This is 27 minutes of high-octane devastation that has been highly anticipated.

Human Mincer has been around since ‘99. They released their first full-length, Devoured Flesh, in 2005 with a different bassist and vocalist from the present lineup. In 2006 Phlegeton and Guillemoth replaced the pre-exiting members. They actually did some touring as well. Well, two years later we are rewarded handsomely. Just a wild guess, I’ll assume that Degradation Paradox is superior to Devoured Flesh. I don’t see any North American tours planned, but one can hope.

I haven’t yet done a side-by-side listen with Planisphaerium, but it will happen. To be the champ, you have to beat the champ. I would love to hear people’s comparisons. My prediction…a 12th round decision. You be the judge.
