Blasting forth like a gatling gun, Texas’ Kill The Client unleash the fucking fury with their sophomore Willowtip release, Cleptocracy. If you thought 2004’s Wage Slave or 2005’s Escalation Of Hostility were intense slabs of grindcore, be prepared to have your face kicked in by 18 tracks of relentless grinding carnage!
I don’t know what was done to Kill The Client prior to the recording of Cleptocracy but these guys are fucking pissed off and looking to rip, tear and smash your eardrums to a bloody pulp with their relentless brand of hate fueled grindcore. Vocalist Morgan sounds like a crazed beast shrieking for blood while drummer Brian Fajardo beats the shit out of his drum kit like it touched his dick inappropriately and Chris Richardson, Dorrian Rainwater and James Delgado shred like a speed junkie jacking off leaving bits of flesh and blood spewing everywhere. This shit is fucking intense!
The only time throughout the nearly 23 minute release that Kill The Client take a break from destroying their recording studio is on the 93 second sludge-fueled track "Downfall" which is a crushing slab of music. Honestly, I’d love to hear Kill The Client record an entire disc in this style, I think it’d turn out pretty fucking good.
The final track on this effort is a cover of Infest’s "Terminal Nation", which sounds exactly like an old school hardcore/punk song should.
The remainder of the release is pure warp-speed violent Napalm Death-inspired (both new and old) grindcore. These guys make Napalm Death’s latest slab of grinding insanity, Smear Campaign, sound like a doom album in comparison. It’s ridiculous how fast, angry and violent Cleptocracy truly is!
Fans of Kill The Client will not be disappointed by Cleptocracy. The band is faster, tighter and angrier than before! My only very minor complaint is that three of the tracks on this effort, "Spartacus", "99% Turnover" and "Retaliate" were taken from the band’s split with Agoraphobic Nosebleed. I can’t tell if it’s taken from the same recording session or if these tracks were re-recorded, regardless, the material kills and it’s great to hear it released on CD! This disc, along with releases by Captain Cleanoff, Agenda Of Swine and Exit Wounds have proven that grindcore is still alive and very strong in 2008! Highly recommended!

October 9th, 2008 6:28 pmI listened to Maruta and Phobia briefly. Wasn’t big on the Phobia release, I think it’s the vocals I just don’t like. Maruta sounded almost goregrind like… just really heavy grindcore. I need to give it a more thorough listen this weekend.
