Hailing from Denmark comes a Danish death metal super group consisting of former and current members of Hatesphere, Frozen Sun, Deadly Sins and Horned Almighty in the form of Koldborn. The album, a five song mCD mastered by Tue Madsen, is generally faster-paced death metal with a thick Vader sound. The vocals of ex-Deadly Sins vocalist Lars-Bjorn Hansen sound like an exact replica of Piotr Wiwczarek, and the drum sound is extremely reminiscent of Doc’s drum sound and pattern. The album starts out with "Repression", which sounds like an exact homage to Vader. The second track "A Stir Of Unreason" begins in the same vein but has more of a chug-riff style, more akin to earlier Fear Factory at times, but with plenty of fast-paced Vader blasting and riffing to go around. The third track "Hand Held Hate" shows a lot more variety, although seems to have a bit more of a mainstream-sounding vibe to it for the most part. The fourth track is back to more Vader-style… alright, I’ve had enough of this fucking band, I don’t even have the patience to get to the final track. Koldborn’s The Devil Of All Deals is basically yet another Vader clone band, who change things up here and there and add a bit of variety to the riffs, but when the vocals and drums sound exactly the same, and the music goes in the same choppy pattern, it’s safe to say the final track will probably sound a lot like Vader. Sven from Aborted is the one who recommended this album to me; I now realize I should never pay attention to the musical opinions of people in bands I don’t like. He claims they don’t sound much like Vader and have much better song writing, then again he also claims the new Aborted full length is great. From beginning to end, this album is one of the most annoying pieces of music I’ve heard, simply because it’s about as original as a new Pez dispenser; it may be new, but it still spits out the same crappy tasting junk. Vader haven’t been good in years and there’s no such thing as a good Vader clone band, no matter how clean it sounds, especially not any clones from Denmark. Ugh… what a waste of plastic.
