Hot off of the press from Cicatrix, a newly formed sub label of Red Stream Records, comes Krieg’s The Church mCD. I have been listening to Krieg for a few years now, and this is by far the most intense collection of songs that Krieg have graced me with. Opener "Destruction Ritual" is very fast, containing some of the traditional Krieg noise-riffing style with some killer riffs and adept drumming performed by one Duane Timlin. "To Wander The Stars" is pretty standard Krieg fare, and is just fucking fine with me. MkM of Antaeus fame did the layout of this CD, by the way, and I think some influence of his band has rubbed off on Krieg. "The Ancients Dwell Beneath" and "As Graveyard Rites…" are more of the same standard Krieg-ness, perhaps being a little more actual riff-oriented than using Krieg’s traditional noisey riffing. The vocals are as vile as ever, and if played near the Vatican would flay the Pope to death while taking a huge dump in his hat. The ending minute of Track 4 contains this fucked up guitar noise, drums and vocals part that is just fucking swank! Track 5, an older recording of "To Wander The Stars", has Teloc Coraxo of Bloodstorm on drums and is a nice little bonus. Now, then… why do I like Krieg so much? The dedication to raw, sick and hateful music is always up front in each Krieg release. That alone puts them above most of the bands who attempt black metal. While this release continues in the same Krieg vein, it also continues to be in the same hateful and sick tradition as the most revered and diehard of black metal should be. Failure to appreciate Krieg for what they are constitutes your admission of being a fucking moron. Remember that scene in American History X when the guy gets curb-stomped? This is the fucking soundtrack to that moment!!!

Summary: Nargaroth’s new album is called Blackmetal ist Krieg… and they’re goddamn right! Krieg is pure and sick, for those who enjoy Blasphemy, Beherit, Profanatica, Antaeus, Xibalba and others. Limited to 1000 copies, so knock down the doors of Cicatrix in the name of WAR!
