Australia’s Kutabare is Razorback’s latest offering of twisted gore insanity. Nothing very over-the-top here, but fans of Birdflesh, Dead, Gut, early Last Days Of Humanity and Purulent Spermcanal will be pleased. The ten tracks on this mCD go by very quickly. The riffs are thick chunky down tuned stomping gore with odd guitar embellishments and enough tempo changes to keep things flowing nicely. A sense of humor is required to totally appreciate this brand of drunken death grind. Titles range from porn to gore to goofy knock offs like "Rime Of The Ancient Marinated Corpse". Kutabare have more of a sludgy porn sound compared to some of the faster gore stuff Razorback usually does, but I think it’s a welcome change. Kutabare seems at their best when they are laying down thick churning slabs of noise, but I wouldn’t mind hearing them let fly with some more of the raging faster riffing. The artwork is Asian-ish goof-gore that, once again, reminds me of Birdflesh and Purulent Spermcanal. This beats the shit out of the crossed-arms-glaring-stare-of-brutality-photo with-hazy-masticated-baby type of cover that needs to go the fuck away already. Australia seems to have a good sense for this type of beer-fueled grind that you can tell would rule in a live setting. If you’re looking for classic style churning gore - check it out.
