Last Days Of Humanity’s sophomore release Hymns Of Indigestible Suppuration is twenty-three tracks of non-stop pummeling terror and brutality. Featuring ferocious, well calculated blast beats, corpseshredding riffs and inhumanly terrifying processed vocals and more than a dozen gorey intros, Last Days Of Humanity redefine the entire gore-grind genre with their blend of momentary rhythm and melody with carnage and chaos. Lyrically the band is fairly unoriginal, with vocalist Bart Bouwmans simply repeating the song title over and over, occasionally tossing in a "fucking" here and there, however the insanely guttural vocal effects he uses sounds like an angry wounded animal seeking vengeance and blood. When I first heard the effect I broke out laughing, but after a while I found myself getting into it completely. The production, handled by Mec and Patrick Steenbalders along with the band, is far better than on the band’s previous "Carcass-worship" album The Sound Of Rancid Juices Sloshing In Your Coffin. Actually, the progression the band has made between albums is startling, as the band sounds a lot more tight on this release, with every element of the band seeming to have improved, minus the lyrics. The sheer aggression of their music gets my adrenaline flowing every time I pop it into the stereo, giving me the urge to find a shovel to smash upside someone’s head, molest their lifeless corpse and bury them in my backyard. Highlights include the insanely energetic and barbaric "Maggot Feast On A Swollen Fetus", the hate inducing "48th Cut", the brutally groove-laden "The Taste Of Festering Vomit", "Stirred Intestines", "Wet Remains", "Ulcerated Offal" and "Bowel Exhibition" for the intro alone. Although clocking in at a mere thirty-four minutes, this album contains some of the finest gore-grind material ever written. Any fan of gore or grind MUST OWN this CD. If Mortician scares you, Last Days Of Humanity will fucking kill you!
