Here we have the debut offering of South Carolina’s Lecherous Nocturne. The line-up consists of a lot of familiar faces including bass wizard Mike Poggione of Capharnaum and Monstrosity, vocalist Jason Hohenstein of Shaitan Mazar, Nile touring bassist Chris Lollis on guitars and Nile guitarist Dallas Toler-Wade on drums, plus a guitarist who simply goes by the name "Kreishlhoff."

Unsurprisingly the material on the band’s debut full length offering Adoration Of The Blade has a strong Nile vibe, but other obvious influences do include Angelcorpse and Immolation. While the riffing and bass playing is very technical and the drumming is solidly complimentary of the material, the raspy vocals are fucking terrible and are hugely distracting from the music and the song writing, as a whole, lacks creativity.

Adoration Of The Blade is like sticking a Nile album in a blender with an Angelcorpse album and expecting the end result to be good, especially considering both Nile and Angelcorpse are ridiculously dull bands to begin with. I actually feel the same way listening to this as I did when I listened to another one of Deepsend Records’ releases, Cinerary’s Rituals Of Desecration, the music was fast and aggressive and the band had a solid line-up, but they failed to produce memorable music that would keep me going back to listen to it again and again. That’s exactly the problem with Adoration Of The Blade, the talent is there, but after the first 5 minutes I lose interest because nothing about the music stands out as something different.

The best way to describe Lecherous Nocturne is to simply state; since the release of Adoration Of The Blade they’ve signed to Unique Leader Records, home of blasting generic death metal and that’s exactly where they belong, mixed in among Severed Savior and Vile. Fans of generic blasting death metal will probably love this album, but those of us who need more than a blast beat, growl and fast riffs will want to pass on this one.
