Fast. Short. Angry. South Carolina’s Lecherous Nocturne deliver 23 minutes of bowel eroding kill metal with their debut Adoration of the Blade, which only hints at the chaos to come when there next release (featuring new drummer Jeremy Nissenbaum) drops later this summer. Oh but what a hint it is…sort of like a clawhammer to your face hinting at a nailgun firing squad aiming at your balls.
There are moments of "wazzat?" headiness on "Adoration of the Blade" (see tracks like "Divine Wind") where Lecherous Nocturne reveals their love of Gorguts and the like, but like those modern masterworkers, Lecherous Nocturne also has a great ear for feeling and atmosphere that’s more than a match for their obvious technical prowess. The record never sounds dry or overproduced or overwrought… everything feels like it was meticulously planned, edited, and so forth until all the fat was trimmed and you’re left with a mean as shit fuck-you mobile of a record.
The fast parts are pissed….the mid-tempo parts are slimy and evil in a way that Morbid Angel used to be… all in all it’s a solid release from one of the underground’s best kept secrets, whose best days may be a head of them… but their off to a hell of a fucking start.
