Bands from Germany never cease to amaze. Some of the most bizarre forms of death metal have been spawned here, with little regard for musicianship, skill, etc. But, who cares? If there was a ridiculous section at the CD store, this would be in there. I am not sure if there are fans of this type of music or those who bought this either by accident or did not realize how the tag "techno-cybergrind" would truly apply.
Apparently, the ex-vocalist of Gut is in this band but its difficult to really tell. Personally, I fell into the category of not knowing how much "techno" is in "techno-cybergrind." This is listening to UltraViolence (that techno band of Earache) with guitars and every damn thing pitchshifted. The guitars are extremely downtuned and occasionally, a riff can be heard. Most of the time one hears various pitchshifted vocals and random techno sounds. It is so techno, its disturbing. However, the music is so bizarre, its interesting. For example, the opening track starts with some 1970s German variety show keyboard then goes into an extremely slow droning riff with the stereotypical techno drum beat. Most of the songs follow this structure, with some of the songs incorporating more Gut-like riffs in the midst of bad techno drum beats, random sounds, and a mess of other shit.
This is the kind of stuff that is a novelty. This disc only has 7 songs, clocking in a bit over 14 minutes, so it’s bearable. I would love to sneak into some ecstasy-ridden club in Manhattan and let the DJ play this. It would be quite the hit! Some may dance all night, some may cower in the corner playing with themselves, and everyone would be permanently scared. It definitely worth a listen and it will give your non-death metal friends even more reason to say your music is horrible!
