It’s got to suck to be a metal fan in Luxembourg, one of the smallest countries in the world. The tiny country is home to MSound Records’ recording artist Lifeless. One man is behind everything on this album - lyrics, guitars, bass, vocals, keyboards and drum machine programming, Marc Kieffer. I’ve got to give the guy tons of credit, he’s in a place with no scene so what does he do? Create his own scene by himself. The most amazing part of all is that it’s actually not bad for one guy. The music is fairly simplistic, but Marc seems to have a pretty good command over all of the instruments and has the drum machine putting out a pretty cool beat. The throaty vocals remind me a great deal of Alberta Canada’s Disciples Of Power, they may be irritating to some people, but I don’t mind it much. He’s got a very unique sound with a pretty energetic groove. I think Marc would be a perfect addition to any band, he’s a pretty good guitarist with a Primus-like bass approach and has unique vocals not often heard in underground metal. Unfortunately while he does the best job that he can with what he has, it’s not really enough to make this album anything spectacular. I still say it’s worth checking out just to hear what this one guy was able to achieve with what little he had, pretty amazing.
