Back when I was a kid in middle school, I grew up on renting old ass horror films. As early as sixth grade I got introduced to the European scene from the early 70’s to late 80’s. When other kids were watching Scream, I was watching Suspiria. One of the biggest things I came across was the Blind Dead series of Amando de Ossario. I feel in love with those slow paced, gothic, skeletal zombies of the Knights Templar. So what does Machetazo decide to do? They went and made a concept album devoted entirely to the Blind Dead.

And boy, did they pull it off. Mid-paced grind, with the occasional source sample hear or there, and a guest appearance by the wailings of legendary Abscess/Autopsy drummer-vocalist Chris Reifert on "Niebla Funebre". They keep the blast beats varied and appropriate, they know when to slow down the grinding fury, and they get just the right atmosphere of what the Blind Dead would sound like with a grind soundtrack. Fuck, this is just what the doctored ordered for those long lonely nights where your average aging, balding horror fan wishes those zombified skeletons were real.

Razorback Records seems to have a habit of getting the best horror projects in metal, and Machetazo’s Sinfonias del Terror Ciego only solidifies this. Buy this fucking album.
