I haven’t listened to much Machetazo since the release of Trono de Huesos, needless to say this 28 track compilation of Machetazo’s hard to find split material, EPs and cover songs from 1998 to 2004 helps fill me in on a lot of the material I’ve missed.

Spain’s Machetazo play an intense style of music that’s an equal mix of goregrind, deathgrind, old school death metal and grindcore with a sickeningly meaty production. The riffs are vicious, the distorted bass sound shreds, the drumming is ferocious and the vocals are evil and raspy. The music of Machetazo is angry, catchy and punishing, basically, if you’ve heard any Machetazo album you know exactly what to expect from this compilation.

Contained within these 28 tracks are 7 cover songs in tribute to legendary acts Venom, Massacre, Repulsion, Carcass, Impetigo, Saint Vitus and Black Sabbath, each played with in Machetazo’s unique style. The cover tracks alone are worth picking up this album, but the remaining 21 tracks are equally impressive. There’s material from splits with Cianide, General Surgery, Bodies Lay Broken, Corrupted, Rise Above and Abscess, bonus tracks from Carne de Cemeterio, plus the full Horror Grind and The Maggot Sessions EPs. This album is like an infomercial, every time you think it can’t get any better there’s even more material to be found!

This album is a must for all fans of Machetazo, horror metal, gore and quality old school death grind! Listening to this makes me wonder why I haven’t kept up with Machetazo’s discography! Time for me to search for their older material, this shit shreds!
