"Best of" albums are usually reserved for bands who have been around for quite some time with at least a strand of moderate success, so whoever gave Metal Chamber the okay to make this album needs to be hit in the head with a sledge hammer and ran over by a schoolbus full of retards. Chances are you’ve never heard of Metal Chamber. Neither had I until recieving this CD. Now my poor ear canals are filled with blood thanks to the U.K.’s best kept metal secret which should have never been unravelled in the first place.
This is mediocre at best. Boring, sloppy (and not sloppy in a good way), shitty death metal. It’s the kind of music where you wait for something great to happen but it never does. Totally lifeless and devoid of any effort. Plodding drumming that makes Lars Ulrich sound like the greatest drummer of all time, guitar riffs/passages that go absolutely nowhere and the most un-dynamic vocals that barely make it above a whisper are just some of the major key issues that come to mind. It could be due to the horrible production or the fact that these guys should’ve never been allowed to spend daddy’s hard earned cash on musical equiptment unless they intended on playing some decent music.
Needless to say, Metal Chamber sucks. It is a name that very few death metal fans remember and after listening to The Beast Of, it’s painfully obvious why this is the case. Do not buy this album. Hell, don’t even bother downloading it or going to Metal Chamber’s website to check out their tunes. if you want to hear proper U.K. death metal, stick with bands like Bolt Thrower or Benediction. Now if you’ll excuse me, I have some bloody ears to clean out.
