MFAGCOQD start things off with a relentless assortment of well produced blasting and grooving that could only be a product of a Czech band. A younger generation of eastern European grinders is moving towards more complex arrangements and a greater variety of riffs within songs. Like country mates Contrastic and Cerebral Turbulency, this band is not afraid to stray from traditional grind and it’s for the best. When they choose to play it straight – the riffs are blistering and catchy. The goofier elements make for some great smoking grind. The guitars are tuned down to a chunder that frees up the highs and mids for the vocals to dominate the mix. What sets these freaks apart is some fucked up vocals delivered with ferocity and skill. A strong sense of humor and musicianship makes for a fun time that takes nothing away from the heaviness of the whole experience. Screaming Afterbirth is decidedly more American sounding with more death metal leanings in the riffs. The retardedly sick vocals and spastic blasting drive this punishing attack of beer- fueled debauchery. This is a HUGE step up from their Puke Pile debut as the songs are much stronger in general and the production is greatly improved although it still pales in comparison to what they are capable of live. Screaming Afterbirth makes a great foil to MFAGCOQD on this release as their dirty brand of raging deathgrind compliments the high-powered modern grind sound that defines the Czech sound. Both bands are young, fun and feral and make me want to pack bongs and chug a good pilsner. Along with Waco JesusScreaming Afterbirth represents the best grind on the United Guttural roster. Fans of Pigsty, Foetopsy and Putrid Pile should enjoy both acts offered on another fine release from Bizarre Leprous Productions Neither band is re-writing the rules but both do a solid job and deliver some rocking shit.
