Nasum “Doombringer”

Nasum
Doombringer

Genre:GrindcoreFormat:CDTracks:16
Label:Relapse RecordsYear:2008

Doombringer contains 16 tracks recorded in Osaka on January 9th, 2004 clocking in at just over 23 minutes. While I never had the fortune of seeing Nasum live I’d heard from a lot of people that the band sucked in concert. Judging by their performance at this particular gig I’m going to have to say my friends are fucking retards because Nasum completely and utterly shredded this night.

I’m generally not a fan of live recordings because the acoustics usually suck and the bands almost always fail at capturing their studio sound in a concert setting. Doombringer is certainly an exception to that rule as the intensity displayed by the band far surpasses their studio offerings and the production is so clean you’ll find yourself forgetting you’re listening to a live effort. Simply put, I don’t think Nasum has ever sounded better than they do on Doombringer!

Their set contains one track from Industrislaven, three tracks from Inhale/Exhale, six tracks from Human 2.0 and six tracks from Helvete. What’s amazing about this release is while the music contains material from four different releases on this recording everything sounds like it was meant to be played this way and in this specific order and you really can’t differentiate one era of Nasum from the next because everything is played in the same high tempo and with the same amount of intensity.

While I would normally never recommend a live disc, Nasum’s Doombringer is a major exception. Everything about this album is awesome, from the artwork to the music contained within. I was a huge Nasum fan before picking up this effort and I’m an even bigger one now. Do yourself a favor and buy this album, it’s absolutely worth every penny!

I’ve seen Nasum live and yes they completly and utterly shredded. One might even say they destroyed. Everything. Ever.

I was particularly impressed by the ability of the bass player to spit high above his head, catch it again in his mouth AND completely and utterly shred.

Your friends are fucking retards and I’m getting this album.
