Formed in 2003, consisting of three members of Ohio’s Regurgitation comes yet another ultra broodle death metal band in the form of Necrotic Disgorgement. Did you know there are at least six bands worldwide that’ve used the name Disgorge, plus at least four more bands that used variations of the word in their band title prior to 2003? With 10 different Disgorges, I guess there’s no harm in having an 11th, but, why the fuck would you bother? Either they’re trying to make an unfunny joke, or they’re just retarded, either way, the music they create is almost as original as their band name. All I have to do is say the name Necrotic Disgorgement and the first thought that’ll come to your mind is; "Why, that must be a brutal death metal band!" Well… either that or "Another fucking band with Disgorge in the name???", but that’s beside the point. The sound Necrotic Disgorgement goes for is along the lines of California’s Disgorge mixed with Regurgitation and Brodequin. The blasts are hard, fast and relentless, the riffs are sharp, with plenty of blazing solos and the vocals definitely have that head-in-the-toilet-while-puking sound, though nowhere near as deep. Technically, the band is actually pretty decent, and while they’re far from groundbreaking musically they actually come across with a surprisingly solid sound which I, amazingly, don’t completely hate. Production-wise, the album title is incredibly accurate, as it sounds like every microphone in the studio was wrapped under layer upon layer of shrinkwrap with everything having a very raw muffled sound. The artwork for this effort was done by the unofficially official artist for anything brootal; JonZig. Personally, I can’t think of anyone who does uglier artwork, yet the guy gets an endless stream of artwork requests, which baffles me, I guess he must just do really cheap work, cos I sure as shit wouldn’t pay more than $50 for any cover art he’s ever done. When all is said and done, though their band name is stupid, their artwork crappy, their song titles juvenile and their production horrible, Necrotic Disgorgement is actually really not that bad. While they’re certainly no Suffocation, Gorgasm, Wormed or Deeds Of Flesh, they are a lot better than a lot of bands labeled as "brutal". Given a better production and a more stable line-up and some more time spent writing songs, this band may actually get to that level, though I won’t hold my breath and wait for it to happen.
