Breed Deadness Blood

Genre:Old School Death MetalFormat:CDTracks:9
Label:Blood HarvestYear:2008

It’s been 15 years since the peak of Swedish death metal when Entombed, Unleashed, Grave, Carnage, Nihilist and Dismember ruled the underground with their dark crushing brand of death metal. Since that time the Swedish metal scene has been overrun by goofy haired wankers playing melodic rock metal and calling it “Swedish death metal” and sullying the good name of the bands who brought Sweden to metal prominence. Nearly every other promotional CD I receive contains the phrase “Swedish death metal” in the band’s biography and every single one of them are playing that nu Gothenburg melodic rock metal bullshit.

Being sick and tired of that bullshit I turned to Razorback Records head surgeon Billy “Don’t Call Me Squiggy” Nocera and asked him for some suggestions of good old school Swedish death metal bands. Without hesitation he stated I need to check out Necrovation, that was all I needed to hear because Billy knows his fucking shit when it comes to old school death metal.

Once again, Billy Nocera is the fucking man! Breed Deadness Blood is the debut full length offering by Kristianstad, Sweden-based old school death metallers Necrovation and it fucking kills! Breed Deadness Blood contains 38 minutes of crushing old school death metal in the vein of early Entombed, Grave and Nihilist fused with the dark feel of early Incantation. There is no melody, this is like a club covered in rusty nails smashing into the side of your skull; it’s raw, relentless and violent!

Listening to this album you’ll swear it was recorded in 1991 in Sunlight Studios with the recording, mix and mastering handled by Thomas Skogsberg, it’s just so dark and dirty! The music has such a thick sound I was honestly surprised to find out the band consists of only three members; guitarist/vocalist Seb, bassist Anton and drummer Bünger. The riffs are sharp and powerful, the bass lines are thick and meaty, the drumming is relentless and the vocals are pained and raspy!

I could go on in great detail about how good the song writing is, how powerful the production is, how masterfully the instruments are played, but the more I talk about it the less time you’ll spend checking them out for yourselves. Fucking killer stuff, every time I listen to it I end up looking like a head trauma patient flailing my arms around like a lunatic and banging my head like I’m having a seizure. I very highly recommend Necrovation’s Breed Deadness Blood for all fans of old school death metal, especially those who grew up worshiping the sounds of Nihilist, Carnage, Entombed and Grave! Thanks again for the heads up, Billy!
