This band needs no introduction as they’ve been churning out some of the most pissed off grind for many years. Good thing this album is only about 20 minutes because I feel my attention span getting shorter and shorter. I’ve quit smoking bud so I’m lost as to why this is happening. Fuck it. This album is decent. It’s not Phobia at the top of their game but it’s not a bad listen. The Gummo sample on track 8 gave me a huge smile. That’s an awesome movie and if you’ve ever lived in the Midwest, you probably know people just like the characters. I do want to participate in a drunken chair wrestling match sometime, you’ll catch my drift if you’ve seen the movie. That’s one thing Phobia does better than most grind bands, well they grind pretty fucking good too but their use of samples is always superb. Also, the intensity is at maximum capacity all throughout and makes me want to start a riot just for the sheer fun of destroying this shithole town I live in. Tradeoffs between the lead and backup vocals give a nice flair to the anger. The guitarwork has a nasty production sound and adds to the powerful nature of Phobia’s latest album. My only real complaint is about the drum production, a gay complaint I know but fuck it. I’m steering this poopship destroyer right now. I think a thicker sound for the drums would bump this album up a few notches in goodness and give a bit of a harsher atmosphere. The hidden track was a pleasant surprise. An acoustic track with some great, simple lyrics, something I was not expecting from a grind machine like Phobia. Longtime fans may or may not be disappointed by this album. I’ve heard some people praise this latest album and others yawn at it. Either way, Phobia is still one of the better grind bands out there. Check this one out.
