This threw me for a minute. I was sure I was looking at a repackaged version 2002’s The Return record. It took a couple minutes to realize that indeed this does include the The Return album, but also includes tracks from the The Universal Pig + Money = Essence of Existence 1991 release as well as some extra bonus tracks and a video clip.

I’m fairly taken by the Universal Pig… tracks. These tracks that feature a guitar player that did not carry on the The Return album shows the band in a primitive state of precision-sharp abuse directed towards the listeners ears. The songs are violent and engaging. The drummer/guitar player (?!) Oton was playing very well on this early material and so it’s an all out Czech war being waged without mercy. If you are like me and cut your teeth on the Czech scene through bands like Cerebral Turbulency and Ahumado Granujo, the extent of the brutality on this record will not disappoint.

In the heavily saturated Czech grindcore scene, bands like Pigsty are around, quietly offering high test sounds and fury. I’d advise people with a stomach for bands like Cryptopsy to give these guys a shot and see what you think. There is a humble yet notable technical edge here that is worth conveying to fans of US extreme metal.
