It seems that quite a few bands who play brutal death metal have been emerging from the European scene these days. Pyaemia, Decapitated, Disavowed, and now Severe Torture. Aside from having a silly band name, their CD cover is a tasty little treat. Upon listening to the entire album a few times, I won’t hesitate to say that Severe Torture have a skilled array of pummeling riffs and some catchy tracks definitely stand out (such as "Twist The Cross" and "Butchery Of The Soul"). Unfortunately, there isn’t anything highly original being done here. Feasting On Blood is a potent first release for this Dutch death metal band, but it can’t help but sound a little too much like older Cannibal Corpse (Butchered At Birth/Tomb Of The Mutilated era). The riffs get a bit repetitive at times, but overall, it’s something you can throw in your CD player if you just want a good dose of fat-bellied gory death.
