Every few months a tidbit of news will catch my eye online and peak my curiosity. When I first heard that members from one of my favorite gore-grind bands, Fuck…I’m Dead, were working on a new side project with members of one of my least favorite gore-grind bands, Blood Duster, I have to admit I was greatly skeptical about the music they would produce. I would now like to take this moment to publicly admit I was wrong for doubting. The Day Everything Became Nothing’s debut full length, Le Mort, is a wild blend of groove, gore and ear shredding grind. The best way to describe the sound of this album would be to take Cock And Ball Torture, include the pitch shifted vocals from Last Days Of Humanity, include the tempo and feel of Blood Duster and the riffing of Fuck…I’m Dead, mix it all together in a blender on liquefy then stick a straw in the concoction and start blowing bubbles. Everything about this album sounds right, all of the songs mix well together, every riff, every drum beat, and every roar fits perfectly. I’ve heard rumours for a few months that a lot of the musical elements were "borrowed" from a rehearsal recording of new Last Days Of Humanity material, and I have to admit that I do see a strong resemblance in some songs, but I’m not here to pass judgment over who wrote what, and honestly, I don’t care. It’s really irrelevant who wrote it, on this recording, the music was performed perfectly, and that’s all that matters. If only Aussies put as much effort into making quality beer as they do into creating quality goregrind, and getting arrested for singing about pedophilia, the underground would be a much better place. If you only have $10.18 to spend and are looking for one goregrind release to spend your hard earned 7/11 earnings, this is the album to buy. You can spend the other 18 cents on gummy bears, not that you need it, you fat fuck.
