I wish I had a dollar (or more) for every review I’ve read of this CD bitching about The Great Kat and her abrasive, self-centered, egotistical and most importantly, RUDE attitude toward people trying to get in touch with her and what not. In fact, I have one of these stories I could share myself, but that’s just all the more reason I’ve learned to appreciate her music even more. The fact that many of these people completely miss this as the entire point is precisely what makes her struggle a more difficult one, on the other hand it seems to help keep up the ANGER inside her that fuels this brilliant work. The BURNING and BITING captured by the intensively speedy violins of the opener, her rendition of Vivaldi’s "The Four Seasons", will only be understood properly by such individuals ready to attack with hate and kill with passion (all in the name of The Great Kat). "Torture Chamber" and "BLOOD" follow up, two originals of pure fleeting madness and rage discussing the advents of severely TORTURING and ABUSING MALE SLAVES (FINALLY), not to mention DRINKING THE BLOOD of silly christians, all the while stabbing the listener with wailing guitars and alarming screams. Sing along with "BLOOD" and you’ll notice these 39 seconds have far more crammed into them than what you might expect. Finishing off this 8 minute barrage of FURY is Kat’s beautiful, captivating manifestation of Sarasate’s "Carmen Fantasy", again the accelerated pace (clocking at 2:04) reaching out and filling in the the holes in your heart left by the burning anger of everyday life, capped off by a screaming violin at the very end that knocks you in the head and makes you well aware that someone out there UNDERSTANDS yet persists way ahead of you, having suffered and endured enough insanity in her own life to be able to successfully and cleanly perform such great opuses. One must listen to believe, for this is not a bullshit simulation of any sort. Hearing these pieces physically being played at a rate faster than most can think (in terms of metal that’s not saying all that much, but you get the point) shall convince the skeptic bastards. Although image plays a strong role in her escapade (indeed, she looks better now than what I remember years ago from Worship Me Or Die and Beethoven On Speed), it’s not much of an issue compared to her musical genius. Talent speaks here, I almost pity those who cannot grasp this, but then again, ignorance is bliss, right? WRONG. FUCK YOU!! It’s about THE GREAT KAT, WHAT DON’T YOU FUCKING UNDERSTAND? I kick and I scream, I lay with my copies of Slayer Reign In Blood, Zyklon-B Blood Must Be Shed, Gorgoroth Pentagram and The Great Kat Bloody Vivaldi and I sleep knowing someone understands. The CD costs $7. I paid $12 for 10 minutes of Zyklon-B and $15 for two more copies to replace it when stolen. I look ahead now…with hope.
