A long time in the making and a noble effort to proudly commemorate modern bands with an old-school sound, Necropolis’ Thrashing Holocaust has one of the best titles for a CD ever, and I’m not just saying that because those two words have been largely in use by myself for several years. Actually this comp overall doesn’t live up to what expectations I’d have set, however with 19 tracks and a good mix of styles, it’s a solid insight to all things METAL and a good keeper for the cd player during nightly paradigmatic contributions toward brain cell reductionism. Although I don’t drink, smoke or do any drugs, numerous other explanations arise in my case (but I still get the feeling I’m missing something). See if you agree - features tracks by (comments are for the track alone): Witchery (good music, weak vox), Desaster (pure fucking metal), Absu (p.f.m. but production sucks), Nocturnal Breed (fucking metal), Deathwitch (so-so, better than other tracks on that album), Sadistic Intent (evil metal, not bad, catchy main riff), Sabbat (still around! old-school Japanese thrash with goofy vox), The Ancients Rebirth (still can’t make sense of these guys), Lordes Werre (total metal with goofy vox), Metal Lucifer (this had to have come from of the 80’s), Inferno (total thrash but they have much better songs), Abominator (hateful metal), Usurper(fucking METAL), Abigail (fucking METAL), Desekrator (PURE FUCKING METAL), Terror Squad (thrash), Dekapitator (total thrash), Satanic Slaughter (evil metal - this track sucks, though), and Ashes (not too impressive metal). A dirty sound on most of these songs makes it harder to listen at first, but the key point here is metal and the comp is successful, whether the songs are good or not. This is going to be one of those things someone finds way down the line in a used record store and goes, "Whoa, hey!! Remember this stuff?" "Yeah, but where’s NIFELHEIM!!!!!!!???????????"
