Epic. Sorrowful. Introspective. This is an utterly amazing piece of black metal ART. Pseudo-black metal bands (i.e. Emperor, Dimmu Borgir, etc…) that tag their keyboard riddled pseudo classical feces as ‘art’ should fuck off and die in a sewer full of diarrhea. Art is something that touches the soul, and leaves it forever changed by virtue of experiencing it. Weakling’s Dead As Dreams contains 5 extremely epic songs ranging from 10 to about 21 minutes in length, and the songs are wholly wonderful. A masterful application of repetition is used, and reminds one of the great glory days of the Burzum song "Det Som Engang Var" and other such lengthy repetitive masterpieces. Weakling’s vocals are a sorrowful battle-cry type of wailing, and really express emotions of the forlorn and lost. The music relies on repetitive riffing, droning guitar noise, and some keyboards which are used solely and tastefully to accent the riffage. This is something that must be listened to in one full uninterrupted sitting; it requires full attention and absorption. It is an experience which changes emotions. Basically, this is the FUCKING END ALL BE ALL of droning dark black metal. If you like long and droning kult ass black metal with great depth and emotion, this Weakling album is right up your alley. I cannot fully describe the effect this CD has had on me, but I can assure you that the effect is extremely profound.

Weakling - black metal with no bullshit, true innovation and the means to enter the vortex of pure depression…

One last note, I believe the band has broken up, so this is their debut and finalé. Hopefully this album will get the highest recognition and praise which it deserves. If not, then everyone who claims to be into black metal should be raped with a cactus and then shot…
